About

Rare red Hyalite glass flacon for lemon balm, on a patinated bronze base in Gothic Revival style. Preserved in good antique condition, small chip on the top part of the glass.

Hyalite glass, developed by Bohemian glassmaker Friedrich Egermann in the late 18th century, was designed to resemble gemstones appearance. Using a technique called “cementation,” metal oxides were fused to colorless glass through three firings, creating striking, stone-like hues.
