About

Realistic oil on panel landscape painting depicting a vista of French windmills in a cloudy day, with foreground featuring a farmer figure under the trees shade. Signed lower left, preserved in original giltwood frame, slight signs of natural aging.

Eugene Deshayes (French, 1828–1890) was a 19th-century French landscape painter associated with the Barbizon and naturalist traditions. He worked primarily in oil, focusing on rural scenery, waterways, and windmill landscapes characteristic of northern France. Deshayes exhibited at the Paris Salon during the second half of the 19th century and is represented in regional French collections.
