About

A contemporary decorative print reproducing The Tailor (Der Schneider), a 1568 woodcut by Jost Amman from Das Standebuch, or The Book of Trades. The original composition shows a tailor cutting cloth in the foreground while assistants sew behind him, with garments and workshop equipment surrounding the figures. The original woodcut was published in Frankfurt in 1568.

The image is paired with the quotation: "One machine can do the work of fifty ordinary men. No machine can do the work of one extraordinary man." by Elbert Hubbard. The quotation is documented in Hubbard's A Thousand and One Epigrams (1911).

Presented in a vintage-style giltwood replica frame by Eli Wilner & Company, New York, marked with the firm's brass label: "Period Frames & Mirrors - Replica Frame."
