Sensee was a Vallauris-based ceramic workshop active in the 1950s–1960s. Vallauris is a historic centre of ceramic production in southern France, with documented activity from the 16th century onward. From the late 19th century and especially after the Second World War, Vallauris became a major hub for artistic and decorative ceramics, combining traditional pottery with modernist design. During the Mid-Century, production in Vallauris expanded beyond vessels to include ceramic panels, tiled furniture, and architectural elements. Many workshops produced hand-painted ceramic tiles intended for integration into furniture, frequently mounted on wrought iron structures made by local metalworkers.
