Glazed ceramic table lamp in iconic Owl design by ceramicist George Pelletier, well known for his pierced and beaded illuminated pieces. Signed “Pelletier” on the lamp body (back side).
Through a combination of etched lines and holes, an abstract owl is outlined on the bottle-shaped light. Some of the incisions are partially filled with spheres, which are all handcrafted and just slightly different from one another. When the lamp is on, the bulb lights the interior and emits a diffuse light, producing interesting shadows through the numerous cut-outs. The glazing is made in yellowish-earthen hues, and the metallic adorning in gold and brass color. Minor craquelure effect in some areas.
